Meet Us Offline! Trunk is logging off.

A whole month has gone by incredibly quickly- did you feel it too?

When we decided to take a month off social media, we didn’t realise how much of a positive impact it would have on us. In a way, it was liberating and allowed us to spend more time focusing on the important things at TrunkStudios; building a stronger community and building upon what we stand for. However, the truth is we had been exploring the idea of taking time off from social media for quite a while. This last month, just confirmed that this decision we are about to make is right for us.

This is why we would like to announce we have decided to log off social media permanently.

From the moment we opened our doors, we have always stood by the ethos of creating an inclusive, positive, kind and empowering community. After much reflection, we believe the Meta (formerly known as Facebook) platforms don’t align with these values. We feel like these large companies, such as Meta, have a social responsibility to look out for our future world and children. Right now, they are not doing enough or if anything at all to take responsibility for the role they currently and will play. Whilst it might seem a bit controversial, or in a way, not the usual way a business would approach their marketing, it’s up to us to take action for something that we strongly don’t believe in. It’s our responsibility to make sure we have safe, ethical practices all throughout our studio, including social media.

We only want to align ourselves with ethical platforms that encourage healthy usage patterns and protect their users from harassment or leaking personal data. We wouldn’t tolerate bullying in our studio, so why would we align ourselves with a platform that doesn’t protect people online? It’s unethical, and the continued lack of transparency and responsibility from Meta has left us wanting to protect our community, protect our brand, and think outside the box.

So what will this mean for us moving forward?

We want to focus on our real-life community offline. We want to continue to build real, genuine relationships that support our beautiful members and clients who come through our doors. We want to laugh with you rather than worry about likes. We want to promote the importance of mental health, not about what photo we have to post.

By making this decision, we see it as a massive opportunity. We’re excited to look at new strategies to spread the word about TrunkStudios and our fantastic community. In the meantime, head over to our bio and join our newsletter to keep in the loop with our next moves

Come and meet us offline. We hope to see you there.
